Aflow Extrusion Plastometer / Melt Index Tester

Zwick develops innovative extrusion plastometers / melt flow testers tailored to customer requirements. The Xflow series ranges from the manually operated melt flow tester Cflow for checking incoming goods, to the melt flow tester Mflow with weight selector and travel measurement system, to the convenient melt flow tester Aflow with cleaning and precompacting device and innovative load lifting for test loads of up to 50 kg.

 

 

Cflow Extrusion Plastometer


The compact, easy-to-use Cflow extrusion plastometers have been designed as stand-alone instruments. They are specifically intended for MFR determination and are suitable for goods inwards checks. 

  • Temperature control of the heating elements, heating chamber and barrel are exactly co-ordinated. The temperature is generated where it is applied, ensuring excellent temperature distribution over the whole barrel height from the outset.
  • Ergonomic design allows swift, effortless operation.
  • Cflow extrusion plastometers feature a generous standard package backed up by a comprehensive range of accessories.

Mflow Extrusion Plastometers


The basic versions of the Mflow extrusion plastometers are used to determine the melt mass flow rate (MFR). Use of the displacement transucer expands their function to include determination of melt volume flow rate (MVR) and a unique automatic adaptive parameter configuration. Typical uses are in quality control and goods inwards.

  • Zwick's unique automatic adaptive parameter configuration is a 'world's first' system which automatically sets test parameters in accordance with material being tested to minimize measuring errors.
  • Special heating elements ensure precise temperature levels in the extrusion barrel.
  • Operator comfort and convenience thanks to the pneumatic weight-lifting system - weights can be raised and lowered automatically.
  • Automatic bubble detection identifies air bubbles in the plastic melted mass and immediately excludes them from MVR calculation.
  • Precision displacement transducer ensures exact measurement of piston travel when determining MVR. The contact point is very close to the piston, minimizing possible angle errors from the outset.
  • The Mflow extrusion plastometer can either be used as a stand-alone unit or operated via testXpert® II software as required.
  • Mflow extrusion plastometers come with a generous standard package backed by a comprehensive range of accessories.
  • The Mflow weight selector option combines the advantages of pneumatic weight raising with the convenience of simple, safe and reliable changing of test weights, ensuring secure storage and an operator-friendly test sequence.

Aflow Extrusion Plastometer / Melt Index Tester


The Aflow extrusion plastometer (melt index tester) was developed especially for laboratories with high specimen throughput and therefore features robust design and convenient operation. The Aflow melt index tester supports all common worldwide standards, including ISO 1133 and ASTM D 1238. For the determination of melt mass flow rate (MFR) and melt volume flow rate (MVR) according to the methods A, B, C and D.
